Ohtani had a rough World Series and grimaced every time he took a swing. He hurt his left shoulder in Game 2 and clearly isn’t 100%. The catcher interference took the bat out of injured Ohtani’s hands, brought Mookie the plate, and the Dodgers took it from there. The Yankees made every mistake in the book and the Dodgers took advantage every single time.
9:50 p.m. — TEOSCAR TIES IT! Over the last three at-bats, the Dodgers have gone from no runs to on the brink of a World Series title thanks to a double off the wall in front of Judge, allowing Betts and Freeman to round the bases. Muncy is up with one on and two outs.

All Cole allowed in six-plus scoreless innings was a Will Smith sacrifice fly after a Kiké Hernández triple in the fifth. It could be that the full story of Game 1 will not be written until we know the full effect Morton’s injury has on the Braves’ pitching performance the rest of the way, and whether this dangerous Astros club bounces back in this best-of-seven the way it did against Boston in the ALCS. But we know for sure that an Atlanta team already accustomed to overcoming some huge hits delivered some huge hits in Game 1.
The Dodgers are marking their fourth World Series appearance since 2017 and are looking for their first championship in a full season since 1988 (Los Angeles won it all in the pandemic-shortened, 60-game 2020 season). Dave Roberts’ club booked its latest trip to the World Series by defeating the No. 4 San Diego Padres in five games and winning the NL pennant over the No. 6 New York Mets in six games.

The Dodgers scored the game’s first run in the 5th, but Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton quieted the LA crowd with a massive two-run home run in the 6th inning to put New York ahead 2-1. The Southern California native stood and watched as the moonshot flew deep into the left field stands, a sight that has become familiar throughout Stanton’s stellar playoffs.
